Well, we leave to go to Maine in less than two weeks! It is hard to believe that we are almost heading out on this road trip which we've been planning for so long. Ten weeks on the road, beginning and ending in Maine.
The first part of the trip we'll be traveling with our daughter, Emily. She'll spend a few days with us before we all come back to pack up, bring her to Dickinson College, then continue on. Time with our kids is so precious as they all leave home to begin their own adventures, and we cherish every moment we have with them .
We have been going to Ogunquit, Maine at the end of August for almost 20 years.....it has become, for me, my "goodbye to summer" week. It has also usually been spent with my daughters. I have so many memories of time spent at the Hillcrest Resort, walking down the street and over the bridge into Perkins Cove, ice cream cones, the candy store, good food, and most especially, lots of love and laughter!
The beautiful rocky coast of Maine, long walks on Marginal Way, the last tastes of clam chowder and lobster. It might just be me, but doesn't lobster just taste better when eaten in the summer? It just isn't the same in the dead of winter.
The countdown to August 21st has begun!!
